Contest
We are asking
members to submit a story on a particular topic.
This
is not a writing contest; it is a story contest.
Don’t worry about misspelled words or weak grammar. We
will choose the story based on the entertainment value of its
content.
Rules
Submit a
story, based on the title “My First TriFive and why I
chose it”.
We are not interested in who you had in the back seat of
your car or what you did there. We want to hear your best car
story -- burning rubber,
breaking down or just the sound of a rough idle of a 283 with a
30:30 cam in it. You can stretch the truth as you see fit, but
remember there are a lot of car guys here and if you tell me you
had a small block running 2000 horsepower.... well, you get the idea.
Some of the
younger guys and gals won't remember much about cruising between
the A&W and the Frosty Freeze, or hanging out at the drive-in
movie -- for that I am sorry, you missed a great time in American
history. However, we probably all know
what it is like to sit behind the wheel or in the passenger seat
of a car that gets attention.
The feeling of the first time our car got second gear
rubber, or the time a throttle was actually stuck -- “Really
Officer
Derby,
it must have caught on my new carpet.”
Many of us remember what
it was like to work all week on your car and sometimes bypass a
few of the things that didn’t work, like front brakes or
the throttle return spring. Or, what
it was like to be seen downtown in that red 57, or that 55 with
the tunnel ram and dual quads sticking so far through the hood you
couldn’t see around them? How great we thought our cars looked in primer brown or gray or
a combination of both. How
about the car that looked like it would fall apart -- blowing oil, knocking, wouldn’t idle but it was cool
because of the chrome reverse rims and cheater slicks?
Please
adhere to the rules of the site, keep it clean.
I reserve the right to edit your stories in content and
form before posting it in the newsletter.
Prize
The winner
of the contest will be rewarded with a $50.00 gift certificate for
the Official TRI-Five Store.
